An implementation support mission is currently being carried out under the Rural Infrastructure Development Project, implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance with the financial support of the World Bank’s International Development Association and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The objective of the mission is to review the progress of actions agreed during previous missions, obtain updates on overall progress, including procurement, financial management, disbursement, fund savings, progress of civil works, and to hold pre-appraisal discussions for Phase II of the Rural Infrastructure Development Project.
On the first day of the mission’s agenda, a meeting was held with the team from the Joint Projects Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which is responsible for implementing the Rural Infrastructure Development Project.
During the meeting, the representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank discussed ongoing project activities. During the meeting, representatives of the World Bank and the AIIB discussed ongoing project activities, future collaboration prospects, environmental and social assessments, and the confirmation of stakeholder roles and responsibilities.
In the coming days, the mission’s agenda includes a visit to Fergana region to review subprojects under implementation, as well as a series of meetings.
For reference: The Rural Infrastructure Development Project covers 21 districts across the Andijan, Fergana, Namangan, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya regions. Within the project framework, it is planned to implement 682 social and infrastructure subprojects across 306 makhallas in these regions.
