The Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan is implementing the Rural Infrastructure Development Project with the support of the World Bank’s International Development Association and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
As part of this project, a delegation of representatives from World Bank project implementation units in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan visited Uzbekistan to explore completed facilities and study Uzbekistan’s experience in community mobilization.
On the first day of the visit, specialists from neighboring countries toured School #32 in “Obod Turmush” mahalla of Khavas District, as well as Preschool organizations #18 in “Mukumiy” MCA of Boyovut District and #12 in the “Boboyurt” mahalla of Syrdarya Region.
During the visit, the delegation discussed various aspects, including the formation of projects with active community involvement, aligning projects with the needs and requirements of residents, and encouraging local participation in construction oversight. The discussion was conducted in a Q&A format.
The visitors were also interested in understanding how these social infrastructure facilities influence the lifestyle of rural residents and ensure targeted use of the facilities. It is noteworthy that at each location, local residents warmly welcomed the guests, showing hospitality and a positive spirit.
