Participation of citizens in the drinking water supply field in Uzbekistan

As practice shows, the need for clean drinking water is the most demanded in remote villages of our republic. According to the results of the Qishloq Development Plans carried out among the residents of 239 villages covered by the RIDP, residents of 104 MCAs have chosen the clean drinking water subproject as a priority.

To ensure broad citizen participation in the drinking water supply field, the Rural Infrastructure Development Project introduces foreign experience in creating non-governmental non-profit organizations to provide drinking water in 14 remote villages of the republic. The project provides for the participation of residents of rural regions at each stage of the creating the autonomous water supply organization, as well as its further functioning. In order to familiarize the residents of these MCAs with the process and stages of creating an autonomous water organization, the project facilitators conduct field training workshops.
