On December 6-8 this year, in Vientiane, Lao PDR, at the initiative of the World Bank and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the East Asia and Pacific Regional Conference on Community Driven Development (CDD) is being held.
This is the fifth East Asia and Pacific (EAP) CDD conference organized by the Bank following the previous conferences held in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam. The event is attended by the government implementing agencies from eleven EAP countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Samoa, and Vietnam) and three Central Asian countries (Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan).
During the conference, they will have the opportunity to discuss the importance of community driven development programs in their regions and the challenges they face in implementing these programs.
Representatives of the Rural Infrastructure Development project under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction take part in this conference on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan. It is expected that on the second day of the event, the project specialists will present regional experience based on the RIDP.
The Rural Infrastructure Development Project is considered as the first-ever CDD Project in Uzbekistan, all stages of which are implemented taking into account the opinion of the population.
