First meeting within the World Bank Mission

From December 15-17 of this year, during the annual Mission of the World Bank, representatives of the World Bank started a working trip to Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions, with the participation of Project specialists to meet with the regional PIU, heads of design and construction organizations, MCAs’ MDU members, and the MCAs’ citizens. On December 15, the first meeting of representatives of the World Bank, Project specialists with the regional project implementation group, qishloq facilitators took place at the office of the regional PIU in Jizzakh. The parties discussed joint plans for visits to the MCAs selected withi the project implementation, the regional PIU specialists provided documents on the work carried out, protocols of approved Qishloq Development Plans, documents on Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESNP), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for study. The qishloq facilitators reported on the results of the conducted Social Audit. The specialists of the regional PIU also provided detailed information on the 49 selected sub-projects in Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions, of which: 20 facilities include reconstruction of power supply, 19 - provision of clean drinking water, 1 - reconstruction of a school, 8 facilities include reconstruction of tertiary roads, as well as the construction of one bridge. As for Syrdarya region there was provided information on 22 selected sub-projects, they are in the process of signing the contracts on the provision of services with design organizations that were selected as the tender winners. Currently, construction work has started at 8 sites of Jizzakh region – 7 of them include restoration works of tertiary roads in Zomin, Forish and Bakhmal districts, and 1 more facility in Bakhmal district includes reconstruction of the branch of school No. 30 for 220 pax in “Saroy” MCA which is in full swing.
